Semper Ride aims to save military lives at home.

North Carolina - Camp Lejeune / Cherry Point / New River (June 25, 2009) –Last year more U.S. Marines died in motorcycle related accidents than in Iraq. The Marine Corps partners with action sports film producers and pro riders to save lives.

Last year 25 U.S. Marines died in motorcycle accidents, while 22 were killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In an effort to save lives at home, the Marine Corps Safety Board is focusing on motorcycle safety with a new approach to grab the attention of young Marines, including an action packed film called Semper Ride.

The Marines called on the creators of FUEL TV’s Great Ride Open to produce the film, who pulled together the team of world-renowned athletes and some of the top cinematographers in action sports. “We saw this as an opportunity to help make a difference and give back to the men and women who have been working so hard for us” commented Jeff Tilton, 17 year Pro Motocross Athlete and Producer of Semper Ride. “That being said we seized the moment and used it to build an incredible team”. Semper Ride offers a “riders eye view” of the action from the all-star cast by using cutting-edge HD cinematography, including the Cineflex gyro-stabilized camera mounted to trucks and helicopters.

Semper Ride delivers big screen action combined with a responsible riding theme while it’s content strategically combines instructional material with a rider to rider style messaging from the motorcycle industry’s most talented riders. Pro riders including James Stewart, Ben Bostrom, Ronnie Renner, Myles Richmond, Tommy Clowers, Jeremy McGrath, Keith Code, Sara Price, Josh Herrin and many more jumped at the chance to offer Marines straight forward advice for staying safe, while charging hard.

Semper Ride’s look, feel and pace, is unlike any safety film seen before. The film educates riders on a wide variety of motorcycle riding disciplines, including motocross, sport bikes, cruiser bikes and dual sport machines. Riding disciplines, terrain and progression are reviewed with an emphasis on those who pursue riding motorcycles for sport and thrills; the “high risk population.”

World-class instructors, pro riders and other experts explain in detail what individual bikes are intended to do, and how to ultimately become a better rider.

“At its roots Semper Ride is an educational film, that is first and foremost about saving lives. But by bringing in several of the sports’ most talented riders, industry leading experts and cutting edge production tools we’ve created an incredibly compelling film,” says Dirk Collins, Producer/Director of Semper Ride. “It’s an action sports style film with mind-blowing footage from spectacular riding locations. But at the same time it delivers a message of responsible riding while giving viewers an inspiration to ride, and most importantly…to do it safely.”

On June 25th, Semper Ride premieres to 20,000 Marines stationed at Camp Lejeune, Cherry Point Air Station and New River Air Station. Along with the premiere, Marines will be able to learn more about safety gear and products with on-site expos, test rides and live demonstrations as top riders from the film perform.
